As the people who went to Lille noticed, French meta is ... kinda ... weird?

What's so different about it?

and though We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I got crossed on deals on all 3 tables I played.
On the first second table a french guy even warned me not to make a deal with a "real" french player.
After he crossed me over it became a running gag that he had to do it to prove he was really french.

They also seem very content "not dying", and only scoring a point at the very last moment.
Lot's of talking, some banter, not as much in terms of strategic discussions or deals, but a lot of talking against people wanting to make a deal. As soon as anybody proposed a deal it became a tablewide discussion.
Lot's off begging for favors (can i get blood from owain/powerbase/resque me) which always spawned those discussions against, and the arguments in those discussions had a banter flavor instead of a strategic flavor.
If you made a deal, and made a joke along with it as reasoning for the deal, the deal got accepted.
If you made a good joke against the deal the deal got denied.

I only noticed a little bit of "french sticking together". Like: I pentexed my french predator and his french predator starts to try and remove it. All 4 french people trying to remove smiling in one turn.
